Make a wish

What a darling little party I found today on Hostess Blog.  I just adore parties where the furniture is utilised to enhance the party decor.  Such a sweet combination of pink, blue and silver for this lucky little girl's 5th birthday.

Cooking up a storm

Styling by Lace & Bubbles

It's no secret that I love cooking.  So for my birthday this year, I was given 2 fantastic books (and it helps if they are aesthetically nice to display too!).  So I've decided that I need to treat myself to a Cake Decorating Course to learn to master the art of fondant and pretty cake art.  There are quite a few wonderful courses out there....so now just to narrow it down to one!  Have you ever attended a cooking/baking course and how did you go?  Do you still use your talent?

I find cooking so relaxing and such a lovely way to be able to treat your family to a nice and healthy meal.  It does help if you have a crisp glass of pinot gris aswell though!

Dream Big

I completely believe in this quote and for this reason I have decided to allow myself to 'dream big' this second half of the year.

I would like to take that photography course that i've been meaning to do but keep making excuses for....

Travel more and take my children on great adventures......

Take time out for myself to relax and re-energise.....

Dance when I feel like it......

And most of all.......throw myself into my event styling plans with an open heart and
mind.........

Lollipops and Pinwheels

This amazing party is making its way around popular party blogs but I just had to post it as its one of the most amazing i've ever seen.  It was created by some very talented Brazilians at L'Apparato for a couple of lucky little 3yr old twins.

I just adore the soft pastel colour palette they've used and the outdoor styling is just to die for.....I must find a way of using this idea for a summer party this year....just gorgeous!  Thank you to Karas Party Ideas for these wonderful photos.

Vintage Style Butterfly Morning Tea

Today I hosted a little Butterfly Morning Tea in support of the McGrath Association.  The event was partnered with a good friend of mine, Linda, who is a Phoenix Card Trader and who had a lovely range of gift cards for the ladies to purchase, with a percentage raised going to support families of breast cancer.

We indulged in Macarons from In A Pickle (thank you Esther), pink cupcakes, butterfly cakes, Victorian Sponge Cake, Smoked Salmon finger sandwiches and Egg Sandwiches.

A huge thank you goes to Freemans Hire for lending us their gorgeous little Americana Chairs and to Brisbane Costume Hire for the Huge Butterfly Wings as part of our styling props.

It was a lovely morning, a chance to indulge, have a cup of tea and support a fabulous charity.  Thanks to all of you who made the morning so wonderful!

Reality Check

(Source: TomKat Studio)

On a completely different topic today, I'm struggling with the idea that my first son is off to school next year and he won't be around during the week.  I feel the weeks are slipping away this year and i'm really going to miss not having him at home.  Don't get me wrong, I'm also relishing the fact that it will give me some free time to concentrate on other things (like my styling business) but as my youngest is also starting kindy, it's really bitter sweet.

Someone once said to me that your children are only lent to you for a short amount of time so enjoy them while they are small, I really believe that and am trying to spend as much time as possible with them this year before school becomes a big part of life.

So instead of searching blogland today for inspirational parties and gorgeous homewares, I'm off to paint with my youngest and give him my time for the next few hours.

Winters upon us

Isn't it funny how the first day of winter suddenly presents itself with such a cold snap!  Its days like these that I dream of sipping hot chocolate and reading a good book by a dimly lit fire.  Realty however finds me trudging through windy parks with 2 boys still insisting on playing with the freezing cold water bubbler at 5pm!  How will you spend your winter this year?  Skiing perhaps, jetsetting off to a warmer land or just rugging up and staying indoors as much as possible?

A friend and I visited a fabulous Antique store today and the inspiration was abundant as I searched through vintage treasures and art deco furniture.  My ideas are flowing and the purse is opening a little too much in places like these but its fun to collect little treasures for the future isn't it.

In the meantime, i would love to throw a Christmas in July event this year.....
